integrative nutritional medicine
1. What is Dr. Darling's experience?
Dr. Darling has been practicing nutritional medicine since 1995. She has treated a wide variety of health
conditions with natural treatments, and occasionally uses prescription medication when needed. She has
experience with menopause, PMS, and endometriosis; obesity; auto-immune diseases such as rheumatoid
arthritis and lupus; skin conditions including eczema, acne and psoriasis, and fibromyalgia; allergies,
asthma, ADD/ADHD; high blood pressure, cholesterol abnormalities, and heart disease; malnutrition resulting
from eating disorders, digestive disorders, and cancer; thyroid, diabetes, and adrenal conditions, and much
more.
2. How do I know I need chelation therapy?
Chelation Therapy is heavy metal detoxification, usually by intravenous administration of EDTA. Many
experts feel that everyone over age 40 could benefit from chelation therapy, or anyone under age 40 who
has chronic health problems and tests high for any of the toxic heavy metals. Of course, there are a few
exceptions, and we can help you determine whether or not you are a good candidate.
3. Is the hCG Weight Loss Program right for me?
Our weight loss program is designed from almost 60 years of experience from European weight loss clinics.
We have added our own proven methods of support via a hcG counselor to assist you in obtaining optimal
results. If you have abnormal cravings, are unable to drop unwanted weight with diet and exercise, or have
failed other diet programs, the hCG program may be right for you.
4. How do I know which supplements to take or if I even need them?
There is an onslaught of information nowadays about nutrition and supplements. Every company tells you
their product is all you need for optimal health. The truth is, we should be getting all our nutrition from
food. The problem is threefold: First, we are not getting the nutrition we need from our food, often due to
pesticides and chemical fertilizers which reduce the nutrient content in even healthy food. Second, we eat
much more processed and cooked food than our bodies were designed to handle, resulting in a burnout of
our enzyme needs to properly absorb the nutrients that are in the food. Third, our needs for antioxidants is
greatly increased in this era due to the phenomenal chemical burden we are exposed to every day.
To help with this dilemma, we use Spectracell labs (www.spectracell.com) to accurately measure the
functioning levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in our cells, which allows us to customize a diet
and supplement regimen to specifically meet YOUR body's needs.
5. How do I know which hormones are safe nowadays?
With the recent media attention to the dangers of hormones, many women and men are concerned about
whether anything is safe to use after menopause. Synthetic hormones, osteoporosis drugs, and natural
(bio-identical) hormones are very different. Dr. Darling recommends only natural hormone replacement,
using products from organic yam and soy, to mimic the body's needs. For more detailed information, you
are strongly urged to read "What your Doctor may not tell you about Menopause", by John Lee, MD
6. I have read Kevin Trudeau's books, and there is so much information I don't know where to
start. Which "detox" do I do first? Do I really need to spend all this time and money on everything
he talks about?
Though colon hydrotherapy has shown to be the most effective, there are numerous ways to cleanse your
system, and there is no regimen that is right for everyone. Looking at your individual body chemistry,
health conditions and symptoms, and family history are a few pieces of the puzzle that can be used to
develop a detox and maintenance program that will suit your needs most efficiently.
7. What can I expect during my first visit with Dr. Darling?
Your first visit will be up to 1 hour long. Dr. Darling will review your medical history in detail, as well as any
concerns or risks you may have due to hereditary factors, occupational hazards, stress level, diet, etc.
She will then review any records you wish to bring with you, suggest additional testing, and an initial plan
to help you get started quickly on your way back to optimal health.
8. Does she accept insurance?
We do not accept any insurance for our services. HOWEVER, most of the labs we use accept PPO
insurance and Medicare, so some or all of your testing costs may be covered. Please bring your insurance
information with you to your appointment. If you have HMO insurance, your HMO physician may be willing
to cooperate with us to get some or all of your testing covered by your insurance provider.
